Lemon Ilish

 

Ingredients:

Hilsha/Ilish fish 5 or 6 pieces

Onion 1pc (finely chopped)

Green chilli 4 to 5

Red chilli powder  1 tsp.

Grated ginger 1 tbsp.

Turmeric powder  1 tsp.

Salt (as per taste)

Lemon juice (as per taste)

Sugar a pinch

Mustard oil 1tbsp.

Clean the pieces of Ilish fish and place it in a steel container box having a lid.

Mix turmeric powder, slitted green chillies, chilli powder, ginger, salt and finally mustard oil well so that the paste gets thoroughly mixed. Marinate it for 15 minutes.

Heat a pan and add some oil. Then put some slice onion and fry till brown. Add the marinated fish and cover with a lid. Pour some water .Cover the pan and let it cook in high flame for about 5 minutes and then reduce the flame and cook for another 12 to 15 minutes.

Then put some lemon juice and sugar when fish is almost done.

Serve hot with steam rice.
