After a hectic day, whether at work or at your respective educational institution, playing games online with friends can become a source of enormous joy. The development of the internet and social network around the world has boomed the gaming industry. Previously, games were focused on providing the gamers with an immersive experience created in the game through rich storytelling, single player campaign modes. Then the internet became something as essential as afternoon snacks for the majority of the population, rendering the developers and publishers to exploit the limitless possibility by utilizing the technology to connect millions of gamers around the world as well as making money off of them.

Without getting into the debate in the gamers community regarding the exploitation by the publishers and developers, we would be getting into the multiplayer online games that has won over gamers and critics alike and are a fit for the social context of Bangladesh.

Fortnite Battle Royale:

Fortnite Battle Royale 2

Fortnite is a co-op sandbox survival video game. It was released for Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in September 2017.

Originally, Battle Royale is a game mode for the game Fortnite, which features another mode called “Save the World”. The whole game will be a free-to-play on 2018.

Fortnite asks you to survive a specific map against 99 other players, with the last man/team standing achieving victory.

There are ‘Solo’, ‘Duo’ and ‘Squad’ match types, which allows you to form a team of 4 to play among 25 teams and survive as the strongest one.

You’re launched into an island through a ‘battle-bus’. Here’s the interesting bit: The map keeps getting smaller as a ‘storm’ occurs, with the players requiring to stay within the eye of the storm. You’re expected to collect weapons and world-building resources. The gameplay allows you to build structures and modify them. The whole game is a fun-packed bundle of entertainment with a helpful community.

Fortnite is loosely based on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. However, Fortnite is free and it can be played without having headaches over your configuration.

So, have fun killing gamers around the world with your friends.

Overwatch:

Overwatch 3

Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer online first-person shooter video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It is regarded as one of the greatest online multiplayer shooter.

The bright, vibrant and cartoonish graphics with a very wide array of ‘heroes’ to choose as your player, the game features squad-based combat with two opposing teams of six players each. There are four classes of heroes to choose from: Offence, defense, tank and support. Each heroes bring something to the table.

Blizzard did a well-done research to put so many options without any of the particular heroes being overpowered. The player’s playing style will dictate his preference regarding heroes.

If you’re on a steep budget but want to get some idea before committing, you can get Paladins: Champions of the Realm for free. However, Overwatch is surely worth the money.

Rocket League:

Rocket League 2

Rocket League is a vehicular soccer video game developed and published by Psyonix. The game is available for Windows, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, OS X and Linux.

Now we’re talking about pure, unadulterated joy. The game, described as “football, but with rocket-powered cars”, Rocket League has one to four players assigned to each of the two teams, using rocket-powered vehicles to hit a ball into their opponent’s goal and score points over the course of a match.

The game also allows you to play ice-hockey or basketball, if football is not your preferred cup of tea. You can modify the rules before a match starts.

It may take a while to get hold of the games physics. However, once you get it, it starts being the greatest time-killer on planet. At times, it will make you cry from laughing too much, and on bad days, it will actually make you cry, and may result in a broken controller or keyboard.
