NCCB’s Lifetime Master Craftsperson Award 2017 held

The Nation Crafts Council of Bangladesh held the Master Craftsperson Lifetime Award 2017 ceremony on January 20 at the Rezaur Rahman Auditorium, Ganit Bhaban- Dhaka University.

Supported by the A F Mujibur Rahman Foundation, the Master Craftsperson Lifetime Award is reserved for unrecognized masters of their crafts over the age of 60 for their immense contributions to craftsmanship throughout their lives. Eleven other craftsmen were honoured at the event for their contribution.

This year, Sri Bisheshwar Pal was awarded this prestigious award for his excellence in terracotta craftsmanship. One of the few dedicated terracotta artists, Bisheshwar Pal is credited as the one who invented the black terracotta pottery using natural dye. His techniques and designs have made Bauphal terracotta crafts a traditional terracotta brand of this country.
